Grand Wailea Resort is a luxury hotel located in Wailea square, Maui, . HawáiIt is recognized for its services and quality; it stands out due to its facilities, vegetation, and its collection of artwork, apart from being the largest hotel in the island. History

It was opened up in 1991 and built by a Japanese developer, Takeshi Sekiguchi, who gathered a great deal of artwork for the hotel. The property was bought and sold several times throughout the years until it was acquired by the Hilton chain, which still owns the hotel nowadays.

Social commitment 

In 2009, the hotel released its solidary foundation that aims to contribute with 250.000 dollars every year to non-profit organizations in the Maui island. The resort expects a net zero water consumption and give back what has been consumed to its source. The idea is to avoid emptying the aquifer deposits in the region by 2021.

Rooms and services 

The hotel has three types of accommodation. On the one hand, we can find its classic rooms. Then we can find the “villas”, which are similar to a duplex: they have two floors and a distribution of one, two or three rooms. Finally, the most luxurious building, the Napua Tower, provides a preferential treatment to its guests and its suites, which cost about 10.000 dollars.

Services, cuisine and curiosities

Apart from walking along the wonderful beaches in Hawaii, you will be able to swim in the pools and the spa in the establishment. It has four large pools: one is specifically aimed at divers, where there are specialized coaches; the other one has a long slide and jacuzzis. 

Its spa is recognized for being the biggest one in Hawaii and it spans four thousand square meters, forty different rooms, and a waterfall. In 2006, the night center was closed down to become a cultural center, where cultural activities are held daily and a special art collection by Botero is exhibited in an environment surrounded by music and entertainment.

The resort has four restaurants, four bars and, as if this was not enough, a room service available for almost twenty-four hours. Among the celebrities that have stayed there, we can find Steve Carrel, Kevin Bacon, Magic Johnson, and the presenter Oprah Winfrey. What is more, it was part of the movie Just Go With It, by Adam Sandler.
