American Airlines operates under a codeshare agreement with British Airways, Iberia and Finnair for transatlantic routes, and with Japan Airlines and Qantas for transpacific routes. This allows the company to offer trips to almost any destination in the world.

Bonnie Tiburzi was the first pilot that worked for a commercial airline at the early age of 24. This was in 1973, 9 years after the hiring of the first african-american pilot in the aviation industry. Bonnie worked in the airlines for nearly 26 years. She flew the Boeing 727, 757 and 767. At the present time, she owns a flight school in her natal city. 

  • Current fleet 

The main aircraft that belongs to its fleet is the Airbus A320 along with the models A319 and A321. Apart from those, the following ones are included: Boeing 737-800, Boeing 737 MAX 8, Boeing 777-200ER, Boeing 777-300ER, Boeing 787-8 and Boeing 787-9.
