Currently, Argentina is facing the dreaded second wave. The restrictions and controls on foreign travelers have risen along with the lockdown measures implemented for all the population and for now an end date cannot be estimated. We are going to explain the most important points that you must remember.

General information on the entrance to the country:

  • Compulsory testing and quarantine: all the travelers must be in quarantine for 7 days and will be tested twice, once when they enter Argentina and again after the 7 days of preventive isolation. The inherent costs of the PCR test must be afforded by the traveler.
  • Negative test got 72 hours previous to the entry to Argentina.
  • The foreigners that are staying in Argentina for more than 24 hours must pay 2500 Argentine pesos for the saliva test
  • The wear of a face mask in public spaces is compulsory.

Required documentation:

  • All the travelers that enter the country must send a digital affidavit within 24-48 hours previous to their arrival. You can find the affidavit in this link: https://ddjj.migraciones.gob.ar/app/home.php.

Restrictions on American citizens:

  • The foreigners that are not Argentinean citizens are not allowed to enter the country.
  • The foreigners with direct relatives such as a husband, a wife or children who are Argentinean citizens, may enter temporarily in exceptional circumstances if certain conditions are met. Anyways, the Embassy of the United States in Argentina WARNS that the immigration officials in the arrivals will have the final decision on allowing the entrance of a noncitizen, and the Embassy cannot interfere in this process.
  • The foreigners who enter in these conditions will have to pay a fine of 9000 Argentine pesos.
  • They must have the required documentation that proves the relationship.
  • A copy of the Argentine citizen's Documento Nacional de Identidad (D.N.I).
  • A form that states the reason for their visit.
  • The arrival and departure dates.
  • The flight tickets or reservations for the departure, and the address of their lodging.

To the travelers who urge to travel to Argentina and are not citizens we recommend to visit the web page of the Embassy of the United States in Argentina in order to be up-to-date with the latest news and modifications. In addition, we recommend to follow the safety protocols for the COVID-19 imposed by each country, and to be informed about possible local restrictions that could be penalized.
