Restrictions to enter the United States

Restricciones para ingresar a Estados Unidos

The United States is one of the countries with the highest percentage of vaccinated persons in the world up to now. However, this does not mean that restrictions and protocols that were imposed due to the COVID-19 have been set aside; there are still millions of inhabitants left to reach that point. In this article, we are going to explain and expose the most important requirements to enter the country as a tourist.

General information on the entrance to the country:

  • Testing and quarantine: travelers are recommended to self-isolate for 7-10 days and get a test within the next 3-5 days after their arrival. This varies according to each state; for instance, in some states a quarantine is mandatory for travelers and in others, it is not.
  • Test with negative result taken 72 hours previous to the arrival in the country This requirement applies to all the passengers including citizens, vaccinated persons and in-transit passengers; it only excludes the passengers who have recovered from the COVID-19 within the previous 90 days.
  • The wear of a face mask on public transport is compulsory and, in some states, it must be worn in all of the public spaces.
  • Travelers who have been to the following countries for the last 14 days are not allowed to enter: China, Iran, Brazil, European Schengen area, United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, and South Africa.

Required documentation:

  • All the travelers who want to leave Argentina will have to show an affidavit within the previous 48 hours to 1 hours before the trip. The document can be found in this link: https://ddjj.migraciones.gob.ar/app/home.php.
  • A form provided by the airline at the time of the check-in must be filled in before the arrival in the United States.

Restrictions on South American citizens:

  • There are no specific restrictions for citizens from South American countries except for Brazil.

Travelers from different South American countries are allowed to enter the country without great complications. As in Argentina, if you are thinking of visiting the United States, we recommend you to visit the CDC web page periodically to find the latest information.

For now, the United States is a safe country to visit. Little by little, we will see the world open its doors and come back to 'normal.' Travel without being vaccinated will be almost as safety as it was before the pandemic.
